The difference between a cockroach and a brown-banded cockroach lies in their appearance and behavior. The brown-banded cockroach is smaller in size and has distinct light brown bands across its wings and abdomen, while the common cockroach is larger and lacks these bands. Additionally, brown-banded cockroaches tend to prefer drier, warmer areas and are often found in higher locations within a building, while common cockroaches are more likely to be found in moist, dark areas. Therefore, by observing the size, coloration, and behavior of the insect, one can determine whether it is a brown-banded cockroach or a common cockroach. **
